Just picked up my 2011 lo fender tonight.... Factory denim. Right out of the box it looked a little duller than the tins on my denim xbones. I hope it is just dust or something. It is oem denim paint....

I'm interested in your bobtail fender... fits a 200 tire, right? I'm looking to bob my '09 Fatboy. PM me with pricing, if you're interested.

How many miles are on your Bones? How do you clean the paint?

One reason the new one might look duller is if you have been buffing your current tins to much when cleaning them. The more you buff them the shinier the paint starts to turn. The rear Fatboy Lo fender that I got was not brand new but still far newer than my current tins and although it looked to match my current denim black, the surface felt like it had a bit more tooth to it. I don't buff my tins when I clean them but they still felt much smoother.

Also, I have to imagine that dull paints such as Harley's denim is harder to match perfectly in regards to the finish and unless all the tins are painted at the same time from the same batch of paint, you may get some small variations in the final look.

Just some thoughts.

OK, so I think I found an 08 Fatboy fender in shinny black, so now I need to figure out how much it will cost to paint it in the denim black. Anyone have a estimate of how much that might cost..

I also have a friend who does paint and pinstripe work and he said if u get the paint from the dealership he would do it for a carton of smokes . But i have a strange feeling that the paint might cost a fortune coming from the dealer.. any idea on what might best options would be.

thanks

I dont clean my bones that much. It is a late 09 with about 1500 miles on it.... I got it new in feb '10. Hopefully... A good cleaning will fix it.

I got it new (painted) for $325 from dealer. Primed was $400....not sure why painted denim was less $ but idont really care either.
