ditto what Rockyriver said.Look around and be willing to travel a little for a deal.Buyers market right now.

Its a buyers market and I see used 2008 and 2009 Softail Harleys for $12000 to $14000 all the time on cycletrader.com .

My '09 Dyna has the TC96 motor & 6-spd. Is that bike worth $6k more than I paid?

thinking about = buy the bike you like best. most of the time youll find a better deal within a year of purchase, at least thats the way it always seems. i know people that heav paid $4000.00 or $5000.00 more than it was worth, but thats the bike they wanted and are still happy years later.

If they're asking 15k, they've probably got maybe 11k in it.

Offer them 11k. Haggle a bit, but don't go more than 12k. If they won't take it, WALK. Don't even buy your new bike there.

WALK to another dealer.

I got a new 2010 Heritage Softail for $2,000 under list last March, so a used 2006 anything for $2,000 under list doesn't sound like such a great deal to me. Knowing exactly how the bike has been ridden and maintained since "New" is worth a lot to me . . . but that's just me. Extra chrome etc. is nice but it doesn't really add anything to the value of the bike . . . unfortunately for all of us that have added a few thousand in chrome and accessories to our bikes.

If you got cash or access to immediate financing that allows you to buy from private party, then find yourself a nice used bike from an owner who needs to sell and make him an offer he cannot refuse.

I just bought (two days ago) a new 2010 Deluxe sunglo for less than you were quoted on that used bike. It had 11 miles on it. With hard bags, mustache bar, eyelids, a 21" detachable windshield, and extended warranty I was out the door for what a two-tone bike lists for.

The 2011s are right around the corner and dealers are pushing hard. I found a couple of really nice used bikes with good mods but the whole point of buying this bike was to build it and make it mine. It didn't make sense to buy someone else's work.

No way 15K on that bike. It's got some good upgrades, but should be more like 12K. Remember if you trade in a Harley at the dealer, they don't want to give you anything for your upgrades. So don't let them get you to pay for upgrades on that bike. Treat it as if it's a bone stock 06.

Thats a nice bike but not worth $15k. I paid $14k out the door for my '06 Deluxe almost 3 years ago and it had low mileage and some nice upgrades. I highly recommend buying used because you can find some really good deals out there...just don't buy this one used for $15k!
