We all love our Rocks in different ways. There are some f'n bad *** rocks with the kit, and there are some f'n bad *** rocks without. I'm sticking with the stock fender and picked up a DG.

The Bitchen Seat Company "accordian" seat attaches to the rear fender with HD velcro and then the seat flexes as the rear suspension articulates, gonna feel similar to riding a hard tail. Looks very similar on the bike to the heartland seat without the struts so it makes the bike look like a hard tail. They are really pricey $1000 to $1400.
A lot of terrible information on the heartland kit in this thread.
The gap in the heartland fender can be just as small as the stock gap simply with lowering the bike in the rear and looks great.
Either choice is great.
I have the Danny Gray and its much better than stock and for $300 hard to beat. The only thing is sometimes the Danny Gray will hit the rear fender, they send some protective film (like cell phone screen saver) with the seat and it will protect your paint.
But if I had an extra 15 hundo laying around with nothing to do with it I would go for the Bitchen Seat.
