strap wrench...that's a great idea!! But the shock canister and adjuster plate don't always turn together. However, they generally do.

Thanx for the info. I was trying like hell to just get the plate to move without the whole shock turning. Duh me .

Question Do you mean a strap wrench like you would use????

Hi do you mean the same kind off wrench you would use to take off a car oil filter? If so could you explain in more detail??

I just did this adjustment last night for the first time. I bought the wrench from the $tealer for $10.95. It is a bit futzy to use, but does work. I had the bike jacked up as high as my lift would go. Then I used an open end 1 1/16 wrench to break the lock nuts loose. They were NOT loctited-thank God! I was advised to turn them out one full turn each and then test ride. I made some alignment marks to get them both even. I almost always ride solo, and I weigh 190, so what was the problem you ask? Well I have nearly 20k miles on them, and it seemed to be getting a bit too soft. I never have bottomed out, but now it feels very responsive. Me likey.
