Default New bike break-in questions

I just got my 1st new bike. A 2010 Heritage Softtail Classic. I have put on a set of V&H Straightshot slip-ons but other than that it is pure stock. This is also my 1st fuel injected bike. I have all of 230 miles on it right now, just wondering if there is anything special I should look out for while breaking-in?

Don't drone along on the freeway too long. Keep shifting. Also, keep away from red lining it yet. Otherwise...ride it like you stole it! Best way to break it in.

Ride it to your riding style. Broke mine in on a 800 mile run. It had a fresh 95" kit at the time. That was five years ago and the bike still cruises best at 90mph, and no oil cunsumption/heating issues.

no use telling u how now that Ur over 250...
just do as above post tells ya..

some old thoughts is to change the motor oil and filter at 500 and 1k.

On a new motor I like to change the oil at 50, 200, 500 and then 1,000. If you look real close at the oil in a clean drain pan you will see some shiny stuff. That's the stuff you don't want running through your motor. It's normally gone by the 200 mile change.

your "break in" is over. first 20 miles or so are the most important. you're really only talking about seating the rings anyway. the other parts don't really wear all that much. everybody is different, but I rode the **** out of mine - both times!
