Default F**K - scratch in the denim paint

I'm on a roll this week, first the burnt boot sole on the pipes and now these 2 light scratches appear on my crimson denim paint on the tank. Any way to address this? Not sure how or where they came from although my 8 yr old daughter is looking mighty guilty...

I believe that you will get a lot of responses like " It happens to everyone eventually and now that it has happened to you, you can quit worrying about getting scratches and really enjoy the bike." I tend to agree with that statement. At this point you have two practical options: 1. Have the dealer or recommended paint shop fix them or 2. Live with them and relax now that you don't have to worry about scratching the paint anymore. You are going to get more scratches and fixing these one will only put you through the "first scratch blues" again the next time it happens. Unless of course, you have a garage queen. Then none of the above applies. You MUST get them repaired!

well, I guess the only recourse is to send me your bike. I will make sure it doesn't get any more scratches. I promise. I will send you weekly pictures of it so you can be sure. Hey, I am just the kind of guy who likes to help people out.

I have the black denim and felt the same way when I scratched my tank with the throttle cable after I did the tank-lift install. You will get used to it. It gives 'em character.

You may be in luck. Check the assortments at Walmart for Sharpies in colors. They may have a shade close to yours. I've been doing that for decades with red and black. One of the reasons I like those colors so much.

Hard to tell which of the marks are the Sharpie touch-ups from 5 feet away.

Have someone do some nice pinstriping over the marks. Pinstriping looks really good (I think it looks the best) on top of the denim colors!

You could try www.colorrite.com. Not sure if they've got your exact match or not. I bought the black denim touchup from them just in case it happens. Or just go with the more beer approach.

+1 on colorrite. They carry the touch up paint you need. They have it in any container you want.
