Hi. This should be so easy, but, I don't want to force anything. I am trying to install a headlight modulator on my springer. The headlamp trim ring is not removing easily at all, and I don't want to bend or break things. hehe. The service manual says to remove trim ring screw and trim ring. The screw is at the bottom and holds 2 tabs together. I assume the trim ring/headlamp is somehow hinged at the top and the bottom trim ring pulls out and up, alas, it is not moving farther than a quarter of an inch. How to continue? There are 2 nuts on each side and 1 on top of the headlamp housing, but loosening them seems to not help. I would sure appreciate a response before I apply alot more force. hehe. Thank You!

 

Just replaced my '05 FXSTS trim ring with a visor type. Mine just about fell to the ground when I undid the screw. I think you just need to give her a tug. It all comes apart after that and the only thing holding the headlight in is the wire, but it will hang down if your not prepared to catch it. Good luck.

 

Hi. Thanks Uni. I got it done. Trim ring has slots that align with lips in the headlamp housing at about 10:00 and 2:00 positions. Seems like you are supposed to remove the screw and then rotate the trim ring about 10-15 degrees counter clockwise to align the slots and then pull out slightly on the bottom while lifting the trim ring up. I, of course, had no clue (even though I have an 06 softail service manual which said none of this and even doesn't have an accurate picture of the housing). Anyway, the Kisan Technologies P115W-S pathBlazer headlight modulator is installed and working. The headlight modulator part was extremely easy to install.
