Question Help!!! Wierd wear on my front tire

SO I HAVE A 2007 SOFTAIL STANDARD. A FEW WEEKS AGO I TOOK OFF MY REAR TIRE AND OUT A NEW ONE ON. AFTER I PUT THE NEW TIRE ON I STARTED TO NOTICE WHEN I GET OVER 80MPH I START TO GET THE WOBBLES. AND NOW I AM ALSO STARTING TO SEE A VERY BAD WEAR PATTERN ON MY FRONT TIRE. THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY FRONT TIRE IS BALD NOW BUT WHEN I GO DOWN THE ROAD IT PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT AND WHEN I LET GO IT IS WOBBLY AND PULLS LEFT. I WAS THINKING I MIGHT HAVE SWITCHED THE REAR SPACERS BETWEEN THE SWING ARM AND REAR TIRE. BUT I AM NOT SURE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON.. ???? THANKS

Not sure, but I think if you got the spacers wrong, your rear brake would not line up. Check your belt alignment. It should be running pretty close to the center of the pulley. If you have a manual, you need to check your front fork fallaway. Might need to tighten up the front brg. a little. As far as your front tire wear, I don't know. Could be a combination of things. I have had front tires wear funny for no reason that I could find, although, keeping it up to about 38# seems to help. Probably would not hurt to take a look and repack your front wheel brg's also.

I had uneven wear on the original tire on my Nightrain. It was a Dunlop D402 I think. So I went to a D407 and it had a better wear pattern. As far as pull goes no idea skinny tire gonna go where it wants maybe ur low on fork oil left side???

It sounds like your got your rear end out of alignment when you changed your tire. Also check your belt tension, as it may be too tight now.

i align mine by spinning it and see where the belt rides in the pulley. i start with both adjustment bolts even. belt tension is checked by how much my finger can push on the belt and move it 3/4 to 1 inch.

A 2007 would have sealed bearings, no repacking there! like others have said, alignment of the rear could be a problem and that would affect belt tracking and stability.

The way I check my alignment is to measure from the center of the back axel to the center of the swingarm bolt. I have the tool, but I know of some who use a tape measure and others who straighten out a metal coathanger to measure it. If nothing else, take it to your dealer or indy and pay them a half hour's labor. If the rear end is out of alignment, it will wear your tires out in a hurry, not to mention, screw up the handling.
