Default Lowering a deluxe 2005 with a lowering kit

I almost bought a lowering kit (longer bolts) on Ebay. But i just saw on time that it won't fit on a FLSTNI 2005. Why is that? And did some one lowered his FLSTN with a bolt kit. I know an shotgun air ride works great, but first I want to try the bolts if this would be possible.
