Default Tire pressures

I typically check my tire pressures in my basement garage where this time of year is typically 10-20 degrees cooler than the acutal outside temperature. Should I be checking my tires in conditions that are similar to actual riding temps or is there a acceptable variation factor when tires are checked "cold" no matter what the ambient temperture. I may be getting a little too technical about this but just wanted someone elses thoughts. Thanks

tire checks cold, no matter the air temp. My garage is Heat/cooled, makes no difference. According to three different wrnch buds, 9 out of 10 bikes they chack have 5 -10 # low air.

Tires being cold simply refers to tires that haven't been ridden on which would result in the air inside expanding. Whether it be a car, bike, etc

Typically when a manufacture states a tire pressure, that is a tire which is at 70F. As the temp goes up so doesn't the tire pressure, it's some Boyles law thing. So I would say check it as close to 70 as you can.

10 degrees would make around 1psi difference anyway....not enough to drag out the compressor for.

thanks redheaded fatboy,,,i knew there must be some sort of standard for was is considered "cold" tire pressure......puts my mind at ease....thanks again to all the posters, you guys rock!!!!
