Love my "B" motor
#12
I own both...Softail and Touring. The B motor is a lot smoother at idle but that is the only time it is smoother. Once you start revving, the A motor smooths out while the B motor starts to transfer vibes through the frame. No comparison when going 65-80...the softail puts off a lot of high frequency annoying vibes...although it is still a very capable touring machine.

vibes
I ride mostly in the city at lower speeds so having an unbalanced washing machine running between my legs would drive me crazy. That's why I got a Softail. I keep seeing comments about Softail vibration at higher speeds but have never noticed it, even while riding all day at 80mph. I'm not slamming the dynas and baggers. If I did more highway riding vs. city riding I'd get a Street Glide.

definitely felt my B motor shaking yesterday between 70/80, long uphill grade with a strong headwind, could feel the crank on every revolution
could really give a flyin' f*ck about the balancer that keeps the motor from not shaking @ idle,, as mine sits still @ idle very little
i needs some smoothness @ speed
