Our Heat shields work very well our your money back..you can buy them plain, chrome studs, blinged out to match the color of your bike, plenty of options. They are not plastic so they can not crack, break,or fall off.

I've got a C&C fastback seat on my '07 Heritage and I noticed right away that, with the seat being flush with the oil tank, that I was feeling lots of heat. I never rode it with the stock seat which is wider but I ended up getting a set of RJ's heatshields (no offense Capn Itch). They make it much more tolerable but, let's face it, they're air cooled engines and we're riding on the oil tank. I'll see if I can post a pic or 2 which show the shields.

And I guess I'm really behind the times, what is a Stage 1, Stage 2, etc?

I've noticed zero difference between my Heritage and wife's Deluxe.
The concept of the crotch coolers is sound. All you have to do is wear chaps or riding pants and you can see that putting anything between you and the heat source will help.
Only time right leg heat is an issue is when riding in a parade or slow moving traffic when the oil temp can get up to 250.
