Considering Carlini 14" Fliyin Apes??
#21
I was considering a bar change this winter but I was hit a couple weeks ago and it did $10,400 worth of damage so the issue has come up sooner than expected. I am considering the 14" bars but I am concerned about height. I am only 5'6" and I don't want them any higher than my shoulders. I would actually like them even or a little lower than my shoulders. I have read the Carlini bars are a little higher than advertised. I will probably use Carlini risers also...probably the Boob Risers. They have a 12" in the Flyin Apes but they are 1.25" and I would rather have the 1.50" bars. Any help is most appreciated.

Harleyheaven, sorry to hear about the damage. That's a really good looking bike you have there! Anyway on your question about the bars. I have a set of Flyin apes on my Road King. Mine are 14-inch with stock risers and they are shoulder height, maybe a little above my shoulders. I'm 5'9 by they way. The 14-inch Carlini's are more like 16's. Softtails and baggers mount a little different, but I think you should go with 12's. If you want them at your shoulders. You will love the bars either way, highest quality I have ever used. Ask about blem bars, I saved $100 on my set and I still can't find the blem. I attached a photo of my bike so you could see them on a bike. Hope this helps, good luck!

i'm 5'6 and have the 14's with 2in risers and ride a bare bones saddle on my standard. bars are extended almost vertical (not leaning back towards me) and they are about an inch above my shoulders. if i'm in my stock seat, grips are just at or a little below shoulders.
pull the specs off carlini's site, mock up a set with pvc and see what you think. i LOVE these bars !

HarleyHeaven, What did you decide to go with. I'm considering the 12" flying Apes or the 10" Chubby's. I'm 5'8" and do not want my hands above my heart. When I change seats to a Danny Gray it will lower me one to two inches so I'm not going over 12" bars. Love the fact that the Carlini's are only 34" wide.
