Default Tank Paint Question

On my new FBL I noticed that around the bottom where my chaps must be rubbing my tank, the paint (vivid black) looks dull. I tired to wax it out and rub it out but to no avail. Any ideas on how to bring the luster of the paint back and protect this from happening every time I ride?

I guess I can just put a tank bra on it but somebody else must have had this issue in the past?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

RW, thanks....not sure I can keep my legs off the tank cuz i'm a big guy but I can get it buffed out and I guess I will just buy a tank bra and install it after the buff job. Called the dealer a bit ago and they said they would buff it out for no charge.

THX

Ridiculous maybe until you need them in a wreck, or its cold outside and your legs are freezing from the wind chill. Then you would want them. I wear them in the winter and on cold nights, however in the summer they get put up in the closet.

I would about bet if the paint has been dulled by chaps that its the clear coat thats been about rubbed off, and buffing it may help, but not make it like new. Its hard to say without looking at it.

Harley Swirl and Scratch Remover will take it out. I just did the same thing on my bike yesterday.

Judging by the palm trees in the backround of your avatar you probably don't understand chaps.

I gave up trying to care for my paint. I'll clean and wax sure, but I know that I'll scratch the hell out of it soon enough. Screw it, show the wear proudly.

No, I don't understand chaps, I thought cowboys wore them.
