Mine buffed out too, but it took a lot of elbow grease.

I think I used Liquid Crystal car wax. Worked pretty well.

However you choose to clean it up, get some Harley Goodies floorboard extensions and legs on the tank will be a thing of the past.

Chaps are ridiculous? Yeah.... I heard the same thing about helmets...... Then I got crashed and was DAMNED glad I was wearing a good helmet with a face shield, good boots, jeans and a leather jacket. If I had been smart enough to be wearing gloves, I would have saved my hands from some nasty road rash. I only slid a foot or so once on the ground, but if I had slid more, the jeans would have been shredded my skin was the next layer. I am now planning on finding some chaps to wear and I live in South Florida. Hotter than hell most of the year.

A nano wax product may fix the damage (at least improve the appearance.

You can try applying a protective automotive film where you're making contact...something like this http://www.xpel.com/products/bulk.asp

Guys thanks for the all feed back here, great info. I will see what the dealer uses this time around (because I dont think they will do it again for me free of charge) and then put a tank bra on. I will post back anything I find out what the dealer used here later.

Thanks again all,
