Thanks for the added confidence. I assume you guys just used regular drill bits then?

Its just cast aluminum, easy drilling. Just work up to the size you need. I did mine on a drill press, so I protected everything with several layers of electrical tape. No damage.

Made a cheap small jig from poplar. Combined with a couple of clamps, it guarantees that the drill bit won't wander and that your hole will be exactly where you want it (in line with the original switch) and with no chipping. It is shown in the earlier pictures that I posted.

Ya me too. This would have been a simple mod to do. Well at least I spent too much on the HD version...There's always that to fall back on.

Hey i was looking at this mod for my rocker then I seen theres no real good place to install the extra button on the console.Got me thinking what would happen if i spliced the opener to the switch thats allready there. So if you go to cycle threw the trip a time itll open the door? anyone see any problems with this??

This is a great idea. I was thinking about getting the flash-2-pass stuff but I think I will do this instead.

I did something similar in one of my cars a few years ago so this will work out great!

If you have a rocker, the part number for the switch is 67584-08, number for boot is same.

Thanks for the part numbers!

check the voltage the trip reset puts out, it might be a full 12v. your average door opener is 3v. can you say fire? just to be on the safe side i would check it first.

Great idea, thank you. I was gonna purchase the kit from HD but it is harder than this and costs way too much.
