been there done that. have the heater control also, did the left side so i can keep the throttle on. got a new remote from ebay for about 15 and a switch from radio shack for 4. the remote is in the front of the console and works about 100 ft away. my drive is a uphill so this makes it easy to open and close

I got my remote wired and tested yesterday (the hardest part, I would have thought! Those leads on the back of the board are *small*.), just waiting on the parts to arrive!
Just a tip - I used smaller gauge wire than the OP did, not sure how he got those thicker wires soldered, but mine seems to work fine, and I used a very small drill bit to drill half-holes on each of the pieces of the box so the wires can have a nice place to exit the remote and it will help prevent the wires from moving at the solder points.
