Wider rear Tire on 02 Fatboy
#4
Lots of guys run 150 Metz on the rear. I have a 160 Dunlop Roadsmart which is wider but my rear rim is a 4.25". I could possibly squeeeeze a 170 in their... lol
Tires and recommended rim sizes. Make sure you do not have bolts from things like ez brackets sticking into the fender well. I did and the tire rubbed. Took the bolts out and cut them shorter - plenty of room now.

The '02 and earlier came with a 130m.m. tire. '03 went to a 150 but had a different offset in the wheel. Harley offered a wide tire kit that included a 150 tire, a caliper that had .100" removed from the mounting surface and spacers to move the wheel .100" too. I've seen a lot of '02 and earlier bikes take the 150m.m. tire with the stock caliper and spacers, especially bikes with the bobbed rear fender. The kit is available from Harley if a 150 has clearance problems on your bike. That kit also had a different fender mount set up for the screws that go through the fender struts like the '03 and later bikes.

So, I guess I should put a 150 on the back. Just want to be sure before I buy thats all. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is that Metzler gives stage 1 , 2 etc for most other harleys except 98-03 FLSTF. They only show OEM. If any of you guys had a problem installing a 150 on the rear of a 02 Fatboy with no mods, please post.
Thanks,
Bogie
