softails
i am liking the look of the crossbones and am new to riding, the bike fits me perfect. i have very limited riding experience, close to nothing. my buddy told me springer front ends can be tough to ride over long periods and may take a while to get used to. since i'm new i don't think it would be much of a problem since i won't know any better. but as a new rider i am looking for a new bike and was wondering if the springer would be tougher to learn on than say a road king or softail deluxe. i understand i can test ride them, but if i don't ride 200 miles on a test ride i don't think it will matter. ant feedback would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Does your buddy own a Harley Springer? If not has he owned a late model Harley Springer?
If the answer to both of the above is no...Then I wouldn't put to much faith in what he is telling you.
I do own a Harley Springer (05) and feel that it gives a very good ride. I do think the low speed (parking lot speed) handling is not as good as some of the other FL's that I have ridden but that is the only drawback I can think of.
I have no intention of going back to a telescopic fork myself.

to everyone that answered-thank you. my buddy that told me about the springer doesn't have one, but when he did use one it was from the 80's i believe. i'll have to look into the weekend thing for a test ride-not sure if the places by me are willing to do that. and to rowdy82, i am 6'4" and 215, should have no problem with the weight, although, my girrl weighs about 118, and i woder if the bike is big enough for both of us. don't really plan on bringing her to much but ypu never know!

thanks brettnbama, wasnt sure because of my size. i love the look of the bike even with the passanger pillion and sissy bar, but was worried with our combined weight if we were better off on a road king. i like the king, but its not the bones, and i plan to ride with my buddies more than with her, but always have to keep her in mind. wish she would get her own bike, but she's 46 and says no way. we ain't dead yet, but she sees things different. thanks for your help.

So... if the X-Bones is the bike you can't stop drooling over, go get it.
