Default Air Filter install

Hi All,

Been a while since I posted. Here goes:

I got a 2004 FatBoy(carbbed). I looking to start doing some of my own basic maintenance. I'm not super mechanical but I'm good at taking stuff apart and putting it back together. MY question is: How difficult is it to replace an air filter on my bike? I'm looking for a youtube video or something but not having any luck. I've found some videos but they are for older bikes.

One difference that I did notice is that my air filter has 2 tubes coming out of it. Some of the older bikes its super easy to replace the filter...screw off/replace/screw back on/done. 2nd question: What are these 2 tubes?

P.S. What is the good air filter for my bike...K&N?

Any help is appreciated. Have a great weekend!

K&N is a great filter, they're washable and reusable. Buy the kit for it. I don't remember the tubes from my stock air cleaner.
To remove...unscrew the bolt in the middle and underneath there's 3 more bolts. Remove those and the filter comes off. If I remember correctly they're all allen heads. Install new filter.

The tubes are from your crankcase vents...and it's basically the same process....take cover off....unscrew the screws holding the filter on...replace with the new one.

My bike is fuel injected, however its the same principal and look for this filter setup on a carb bike. Just make sure you get the carb version if you like the way this looks.

if your going to replace just the filter, go k&n. if your looking to replace the whole assembly. backing plate and filter...go with the ness big sucker. better price and better design over the se set-up. steve
