Default Deuce luggage rack

Hey everyone I have just got a luggage rack from harley for the deuce and it says it has a 7 lb. limit. What is the deal with that hell my bag weighs a few lbs. empty. I cant put anything in that without going over the limit. Does anyone know what happens if you go over the limit I mean will it break off the sissy bar? I am looking into getting a roll bag to put on the back but I want to make sure that I am not going to waste my money if I can not put anything in it.

I put all sorts of stuff on the luggage rack on my Deuce. I peeled the sticker off and stopped worrying about it. I forget which roll bag I used, but it was fine.

Misplaced decimal point probably...I suspect mine would hold 700#. John

The way it is bolted to the fender I would think 70 lbs versus 7 lbs. Their are 3 large bolts holding it on the fender plus a thick plastic base plate. Even Harley Davidson makes mistakes on occasion.

I took mine off sold it, and replaced it with a swingarm bag. I do remember seeing the 7 lb limit sticker.

Mine is bolted to the bar by only 2 bolts. Thanks for the input I figured it was a safe estimate by harley. Guess it really doesnt matter what bag i get.

Andre I think the above post referring to the 3 bolts with backing plate was for the the sissy bar ...the luggage rack has two bolts holding it to sissy bar upright... so the 3 bolts hold the whole thing on bike. It will absolutely hold more than 7# but my #700 limit might be a wee high. I use a barrel bag that can sit on seat, or sit on luggage rack, with built in pouch to slide over pad on stock sissy bar and two built in straps that go under the pad...but I still use a couple bungees on outer ends to stabilize it. Default Rack

I put 17K plus miles on my deuce with the harley rack packed the whole time. This included 2 sets raingear, chaps, and clothes for 2 people. Don't sweat the weight as long as it isnt extreme.

And P.S. - dont'cha just love those mounting bolts...

I like the 700 lb. limit sounds about right. Its all good I figured they were low balling the hell out of it. I figured it did not make it a 3 seater though. Thanks for your input everyone!!

Good morning to all,
I just bought a 2004 duece, the guy gave me the sissy bar and luggage rack, but it wasn't mounted. I tried to mount it but I couldn't figure how the hec to bolt the rear bolt down. Is there a trick to this install? Any help will be really appreciated.
