I called the dealer's parts department and told them I'd bought a used speedometer, and I asked if they did the mileage reinstatement there. They said, "sure, takes a week and it's $45." It was really that simple. If a dealer tells you they can't do it, they don't know what they're talking about.

Maybe it's because I have a 2" tank lift, but I have no problem seeing either the speedometer or the tach while I'm riding.
