I'm installing new bars on my bike and was planning on re-using the Kuryakyn Iso Grips. The left side is glued on. Anybody got a trick for getting it off besides destroying it??
Thanks
I glued the shiat outta mine when I installed it. Now I can get movement on the outter end. Try twisting it from the outter end and work your way up. WD-40 works also for getting it loose.
I'm fixing to do a bar swap also. I think I can save the grip.
Try slipping a very thin flat blade screw driver down in and around the grip. (protect the surrounding bar with tape.) stop occasionally and twist the grip with all you got, left right, left, etc. Sometimes a good shot of compressed air will ease it off. Worked for me as i didn't have too much adhesive. Good luck.
Hit it with a hair dryer to melt the glue. Then stick a wd40 straw in between the grip and bar and squirt. then pull. I never use the glue as it is too much of a hassle to get them off after. I usually get grips with set screws instead.
I am pretty sure you can replace just the rubber. I am not 100% sure on the grips, but I did buy ISO replacement rubber for the pegs. I would imagine that they are also available for the grips. I paid about $12 with shipping. I would check before you cut anything as grips do not wear like pegs and may not be available.
I dont understand the need to glue it. I have HD diamondback grips and I just put them in and once the switch housing is screwed on it does not move ... and again you dont need to twist on the left grip for anything so I never saw the need to glue it.. but removing the original I had to cut it ...sorry its a PITA..but you could try WD 40.
