Review of 2009 Heritage
I had an FXR in the early 1990's and had not been riding since then. In August 09 i decided it was time again. I looked at the complete line up and determined that the Heritage offered alot for the money. The bags, the sissy bar , detachable windshield etc. The dealer was anxious as the season was winding down and sales were slow. They ate the freight , pdi and took 2k off list and installed whitewalls. The bike was vivid black but somehow did not look right to me with those black tires. The whitewalls really brought out the nostalgic look to the bike which to me has always been part of the Harley allure.
The feel is impressive, it is heavy but well balanced. The stock bars are very comfortable. The seat and foot controls and well thought out and provides easy shifting . The floor boards are generous and allow you to sit well planted. The engine is responsive but the stock pipes are muted so I added Vance and Hines straight shots, what a difference!. This is how a Harley should sound. The bike is suprisingly agile in the City, although this is no dirt bike, it has road presence and is right at home at 65 miles per hour. Love that six speed. The bike is solid as you work your way through the gears.
At 1000 miles i put on barebacks and added chrome . I have removed the sissy bar and passenger seat. I don't ride two up, but you never know. Some might say i should have bought a deluxe but i think not. I have the look i want right now. I have no complaints about this bike and think it offers very good value( can you say that when talking about a Harley?) for the money. Pics to follow.
