Default Softail Deluxe pipes decision settled!

The SE's on my 06 Deluxe have never made me happy. The particular ones on my bike do not have removable baffles, they would have to be drilled out. I've also been told that the pipes aren't adaptable for slip-ons. So, the only option was a new full exhaust. I've concluded that the Vance and Hines big shots staggered have the tone closest to what I'm looking for. They come with removable baffles if they're not loud enough or quiet baffles can be added if they're too loud. Most guys I've talked with are happy the way the pipes come. Quality is supposed to be top-notch as well. I'm very optimistic that I'll achieve or at least come very close to that classic HD sound I've been searching for. My bike is way too nice and deserves better than the Grandpa sounding SEs. I'll update after the new pipes are on. Anyone who has the V&Hs on their bike, I'd love to hear what you think of them.

I was just the opposite. I have a set of Rush slip-ons that I took off my Heritage that I'm looking to sell and replaced the with SE's.

I think the big shot staggered sound great, but if you talk to some that have them on a deluxe, they complain about keeping the rear whitewalls clean. If you don't mind a little extra cleaning you should be very happy with them.

Personally I love the sound of true duals though.

got big radius on my deluxe and they sound great. big shots will look good, but make cleaning those white walls a bit more difficult.
check out the short shots. they look good on a deluxe, and make cleaning easier.

I have an 09 heritage that I had the SE slip ons installed. Looking to take off and put the rush 2 inch slip-on's. Looking to make a trade?

Big shot longs. The ends are past the white walls. Very similar sound. Either way you will love them.

I got a set of SE's from a friend who did not like them. I bought the Rush from a guy who traded his Heritage for a Dyna. I paid him $100 and would like to get my money back.

Thumbs up Exhausted

On my '08 Heritage, I started with removing the factory "silencers", installed Vance & Hines true duals, played around with some different baffles, but it still wasn't quite right. Current setup has the Vance & Hines true dual headpipes, Screamin' Eagle street performance pipes with the factory baffles removed and replaced with Big City Thunder Monster baffles. Now I have the performance, sound and look I was after. Trial and error can be an expensive method, but on this particular adventure it was worth every penny!
