Cheesy is right... mine warped the first time I parked it in the sun (only had 60 miles on it at the time)! I replaced it with one of the Harley leather pouch ones - much better, and now I have a place for my garage door opener.

I could be wrong so you better get the gospel from him.

Thanks Rocky

Yup that the one... but mine has been PC'ed gloss black. It's cost is a little high but maybe you can find one on ebay? Even if it's got light scatches on it, you could still have it PC'ed?
Hopefully you find a deal.

Picked this one up for $80 already pc'd
wished I had taken that stock one off a long time ago.
If you look closely you can see the scratch it left on the right side.
Hopefully it will buff out.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm going to start with just taking it off and buffing the tank. May go to a leather pouch type for the garage door opener (unless I make a hidden switch which I did on my last bke). Later, when the wife is done freakin out for spending 20 grand on a bike and accessories, I may go the route of the PC's low profile version.

Any tricks to getting the plastic cheesy crappola BS thinger off?

Yeah. I too just took it off. Even with the weld bead it looks better I think. Kind of raw. Even industrial.

To get it off just pull the console and seat off. Unscrew and remove.

Mr. Lucky, What is that chrome piece just below your seat on the right side?

It's the Softail toolbox. I powdercoated the brackets gloss black, and left the box chrome (since I'm not convinced the pc can hold up at the exposed piano-style hinge).

That looks great 2D... My tank also had some marks from that plastic crap that you could see when I switched to a leather one... but by the time I got the low pro one it was pretty much gone, I can hardly see it now.

I replaced the leather bib as it didn't weather well and with the use of powder coating
