I've seen K&N filters cause MAF sensors in vehicles to fail due to the oil.

I have heard this also on autos, however motorcycles do not have Mass Air Flow. I heard that certain cleaners that you clean the K&N with can cause the 02 sensors to send crazy readings to the ECM for the first few miles after a cleaning, on any vehicle that incorporates 02 sensors.
One other word of note on the SE air filters, There were problems in the past with them coming apart if they got saturated with any petroleum product, however this has been fixed on any new SE filter you get now.

I am unsure...but wouldn't the newer EFI models have some sort of air flow sensor?

I just don't trust K&N anymore...a friend of mine toasted his BMW 540i MAF because of the K&N.

The Harley-Davidson Fuel Injection System is made by Delphi (formerly Delco Electronics). It is a Speed Density system similar to the Bosch "J-Jetronic" system that's been around since 1968 on some cars. Speed Density Systems and do NOT use a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. They DO use a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. Air Cleaner oils will not damage a Speed Density system such as is used on Harley-Davidsons. However, if the oil that you use has any silicone in it or you use any one of the various engine detail sprays around the engine while it is running and the engine ingests even a very small amount (parts per million) of silicone it will destroy your Oxygen Sensors. Old and/or cheap RTV Sealants emit enough silicone as they cure that the amount of silicone that they release into the crankcase which then gets into the engine via the crankcase breather is enough to knock out Oxygen Sensors. The tell-tale if an Oxygen Sensor is Silicone poisoned is that the thimble looking shield on the exhaust end of the sensor will be covered with a very light coating of a White/Gray powder.
