Default belt drives

who has changed thier primary to a belt drive and did it correct any noise issues or creat new ones, thinking of putting one on my 04 softail standard that has a chain noise like a sewing machine that changes pitch with the throttle speed

I have not done this on my bike...yet but plan on doing it when the money comes along. The ones we have done at the shop are far quieter. We sell all kinds of them as well. Find what you want and post up I'll get you pricing. Just watch out for the pant legs if they are open.

I also want an open belt drive as my chain is squeeking when its cold. I am wondering what the big difference is in the brand names out there other than big price differences. Ultima sells a cool looking one for under $2000.00

Haven't yet but plan on it. I already changed my rear belt drive to a chain and now I'm thinking of changing the chain primary to a belt...I'm soooo confused. I think it all boils down to my just never being satisfied with what I have relating to the bike. I have to constantly be changing something.

Ultima, made in Korea. For me it is worth the extra money to get one made in the USA as I believe in supporting what is left of our economy.

my thought is to mostly get rid of the sewing machine noise that it seems only bothers me, look of a belt drive is only secondary to the noise, i still ride with a passenger and she can hear it now that i pointed it out to her

The open BDL I had on my chopper was awesome. But it was certainly not quieter than what I have now. However I love the sound they make and mine would whine like a blower!! The nice thing I loved is you can change a freaking clutch in about 15 minutes and getting them on and off is so easy.

I would love to have one of those new 2 inch set ups on mine but I am keeping my eyes open for a shop that might do a little trading with my stock set up!!!!

Thanks for pointing that out, I will gladly spend more to get one made in the USA. I hate putting offshore crap on my scoot, just degrades it.

well i think i have the game plan, noise is not the primary but the engine, start with a dyno and power module be sure its running clean before opening the motor for lifters, push rods or cam plate bearing, then an exhaust out both sides of the rear wheels duals on a softail, thanks to Josh at powerhouse in portsmouth va, no more dealer for anything major
