Default Softail Custom: Laced or Disc Rear Wheel, Which Do You Prefer?

I Have 2007 Softail Custom with an aluminum slotted disc rear wheel.

I'm either going to have this rim chromed, or change to a laced rear wheel.

What are the pros/cons of each, and which do you prefer?

Thanks

solid rear wheels are by far the easiest to keep clean. spoked rears are a royal pain. Plus, I like the look of the solid rears. Thats how I have mine set up.

Wait till you need a new tire and get it chromed then.
That way you save the trouble of pulling off the wheel and tire twice.
Or you can try to find a take off wheel on e-bay and get that one chromed and retired.
Then just wait till yours wears out and you'll have one ready to go.

What did you think half the chrome on your bike was plated on?

drspencer, did you end up going with the spoked real wheel or not?

I'm babysit'n a frineds 05 Softail Standard. Looking at his real spoked rear wheel has got me think'n that would look good on my bike. I've got a '07 standard. Of course I'd go with stainless steel spokes and nipples, but I do like the look.

Thanks

Ron

I have an 05 standard that came with the spoked rear wheel stock. Besides being a royal pain in the a$$ to clean the hub started to warp from riding. After 5000 miles the spokes came loose and I tightened them and then it was about every 1000. At 7000 I took the wheel off cause the spokes were ripping the hub. Harley said their wheel aren't made from steel any more, they're weaker than what they used to be. They also told me it was from me riding 'too hard' and riding with a passenger a lot. I switched over to a pc'd fatboy wheel and haven't had a problem since.
