I use the throttle tension every now and then on a long stretch of road..

Mine too exactly the same, sometimes sounds really bad as well like gears locking up, then release the starter button, hit it again, and it starts no problem.
I still have my spanish battery on there and it's cold here at night, and if I don't keep it on trickle charge it's dead after 2 days.
Could be a power issue.

Going to fit sissy bar tomorrow.
Is it just the metal that needs grinding down, or part of the mechanism too???

Just the metal on the tab.

ok Thanks, bought grinder today, £20, and have dremel to tidy it up. Was gonna use dremel for whole lot, but thought I'd be there all day.

Will see if I can do it without ruining it. Never used a grinder before.

Ahh, just had thought, I'm supposed to be using the cutting disc, and cut the piece off all in one go aren't I?

No use the grinding wheel and do a little at a time to be safe. Always can cut a little bit more, then a little more...
