So for Christmas my wife got me a Scala G9 bluetooth headset for my helmet. Mainly I wanted to be able to wirelessly stream music from the iPhone in my pocket directly into my helmet. Beyond that it does a ton of other stuff: reads GPS prompts, makes/receives phone calls (will use sparingly), connects to Siri who can read me any text messages, has radio presets, and then of course can be used as an intercom for talking out on the road (although I don't have any buddies to use it with). Like I said, it's mainly just a clean solution to being able to listen to music on my commutes. I am still learning how to play with it, but I have used it 5 or so times and I must say I really like it. It's a little pricey, but I think I'm going to like it.

I bought the wife a fancy 600+ dollar Cannon camera for Christmas and decided to take some pics of the Lo. I figured there's no reason my daughter should be the only use for the camera. I also dropped off the frenched passing lamp trim rings to be powder coated. I'm going to order a frenched headlight trim ring while I'm gone next month and get it powder coated too. I took my first good ride today with the Big City Thunder Quality Quiet Baffles installed. I put them in the stock location for now and they seem pretty good so far. It definitely pulls harder then it did with the stock baffles. Sounds pretty good too.

Wishing the FatBoy Lo Family a happy New Year with many add-on new toys and gadgets

So now that I just registered, I wanted to say hi and introduce myself...I'm a new Harley owner, coming from metric bikes. got a 2012 brand new Lo, and couldn't be any happier with. Already put a 1k miles, since winter has been clement so far. Well sort of... This is where I' m at ( hopefully I will be able to attach a pic) Lola Lo comes with ABS, and before the stage 1 i opted for Rush slip on 2.0 ( decell popping despite changing gaskets, clamps etc) Lepera Bare Bones solo+ pillion (hard at first but it gets better, and actually didn't have to put any floorboard ext - i'm 6.3 195 lbs and 33 inseam) swing arm bag, and other minor cosmetic things... Trying to figure out if I really like the nacelle and which headlight i like the best LED or the passing lights. Will definitely put a crash bars since cagers and cabbies are a true nightmare here in NY... Little by little. Wanted to say thanks for inspiring me with your posts and photos. I'm definitely learning quite a bit
Cheers!
Happened to be away for a while, but upon coming back, I see there are more and more new Lo riders. Welcome all. Ride safe there in NY, DDT66. You said it: it's cagers' world in that part of town. Be careful.

SmokeyTN, more inputs please. What kind of helmet did you toy your new G9 with? Was it clear and loud enough for you at up to certain speed? At all speed? I'm in the market shopping for one myself. My aim is to listen to incoming calls while riding (I mostly am on call for work and when they feel like they want me, I must answer within the seconds, literally). Thanks for sharing, pro. BTW, you must have been a very nice boy last year to receive such gift. LOL.

Now, that is cute. Not your bike, sir. I'm talking about the one in the lovely Angel outfit. So reminding me of my kids when they were that young age. God bless.

I have an HJC IS-33 helmet (it's 3/4). It was a reasonably easy install on the helmet that took maybe 10 minutes. I spent another 20 or so updating the device by plugging it into my PC via the USB and then setting my preferences. As for loudness, it's been pretty good for me at all speeds, but I have mostly used it at <60 mph on city and backcountry roads. The sound quality is good for music but not like listening to the Bose in your car or anything. Speakers that small are by nature going to be slightly tinny, but it's good enough to satisfy my needs for tunes while I ride. It its programmable to increase volume automatically with increasing noise like accelerating to higher speed and this feature is tunable. i had to set mine to low because it would blow my ears off when i gun the throttle. Now it works great. As for calls, I talked to my mom on her birthday and was cruising at 45-55mph (with loud Vance and Hines big radius pipes) for 10 minutes before I told her I was on the motorcycle. She hardly believed me. Those are the main features I've used. It's a little challenging to learn the buttons with thick winter gloves on, but it responds to voice commands. It took 30 seconds to pair to my iPhone. Now if I just say "music on" it starts playing whatever I had loaded on my phone playlist.

I spent a good deal of time reading reviews online and there are even some good YouTube video reviews that compare the top units on the market. I'd recommend it.

Also, I have to imagine it would work even better in a full helmet because of the sound isolation.

Even on my loud bike and 3/4 helmet I've had no trouble talking on the phone up to 55-60 mph. Note that I have only done this maybe 5 times so far because I'm more about the music than the phone.

For reference I also looked at the interphone f5 (2nd choice) and the sena smh.

Default Long time lurker

Hello to all my Fatboy Lo family, just wanted to formally introduce myself and my bike to this thread. Heres my 2013 Lo. Heres a few pics of when I brought it home and the mods I have done so far. I plan on giving it a "SoCal" or "Cali" look to it. I dont plan on doing Samson Cholos or anything like that, maybe I dont know, or some long shots or nice 2 into 1 pipe. But I see so many chromed out Deluxes, Heritages and Fattys around here, which are awesome but it would be cool to see a darker version of those bikes, done right of course. The last couple of pics is the way it sits right now at the shop, getting Carlini Gangster 14 inch apes, blacking the engine and front end along with a freight train nacelle.

Future mods: 21/18 Fat Spoke wheels(all black), deluxe or wraparound front fender, Platinum or Shotgun shock, cycle smith or PM floorboards, maybe AUX light bar.

Anyhow here's a few pics.

I got the left side of my engine cleaned up now. No more horn or coil to look at. Next up for my Lo is LED headlamp and some powdercoat. Anybody know which powdercoat will match denim black paint the best. I think I read that Dupont makes a color that matches. Can anyone confirm this.

Default I found the dark side keys laying on the ground

Just a quick hello to the most awesome thread/ppl.

Been a lurker for about a year, reading as much as I could before I "could" buy my new Lo. Finally have it and my wife already hid my checkbook.

The bike is stock until I can sell some more blood for $$.
