Hello, how you doing

I've been lurking in this forum since March when I ordered my Lo and I've read every post

So I decided to join this group as I just left the dealer today with good news and hoping to pick up the Lo tomorrow

I'm from Toronto

I've been riding since 1987, Kawasaki (Don't hate)
`87 Ninja 600R
`92 Ninja 750
`00 Ninja 12R

This is my first H-D and would like to ask some questions

The dealer is selling me their Protection Plan 3y $900 but I'm not sure it's worth it, do you guys?

Do most H-D's have engine issue do I need this kind of protection?

I've never had any protection plan on my Kawasaki they ran like champs

Also how to break-in this engine?

Well hope to read more of your MODS and see all the picture and steal some ideas

Darn it to shoot... ANOTHER Canadian. JUST what we needed. I guess Jose can have a friend now. just kidding.

What does the Protection Plan cover? In the past year there's been only a handful of lemons that i've read about that have had something go wrong with the engine within the first 1-2 thousand miles.. as far as breaking in the motor, i think the owners manual tells you what to do..but basically don't "tear it up" in the first 500 miles.. so no nasty burnouts, and try not to red-line it too much.. just ride like a normal person and not a turd.. i don't remember if you need an oil change after 500 (to get the break-in oil out), i didn't ..or just do the 1,000 mile service and report any problems by that time..

.....canadians.

No problem with the Kawasaki's but Canadian. I mean really? Please tell me you're not left handed and ginger too. I met a guy in the Canadian Army who was left handed. Thank God for his sake he wasn't ginger. As far as the engine break in goes I agree with Jim. Take it easy for a while until you have the first service done. Some will disagree and say to hammer it hard as soon as you get it. I guess the theory is that if it's a weak engine or there's a problem it'll show up right away and then you just warranty it out. I think I first saw it suggested by someone who builds race engines. Apparently that's what race car builders do. Makes more sense with them since they don't normally have the time to do a proper break in before a race and they don't want the engine to blow up on the track. I have to bust out the trickle charger for the first time tonight. The wife is making me drive her back to North Carolina for her high school reunion. I tried talking her into letting me follow her on my Lo but no dice. She was concerned I'd ride off on the Lo and not hang out with her and her family. Well Duh. Smart woman. She figured out my plan real quick. I'm going to suggest to any future sons I have that they pick looks over brains. Seems like it would make life easier.

I'll tell ya what! I'm not one for usually getting warranties but said if I'm gonna spend this much $$$ on my Lo. it's gonna be taken care of as well. I got everything, ABS, security, 7 yr extended with wheel & tire!

I have been riding for over 14 yrs and have never had a flat tire on my bikes!

I just had both tires replaced for free after only 2000 miles on my Lo. For Free, or you could say prepaid!
I had some sort of slow leak in my front tire and made an appt to get it fixed and walked out to my bike to find the rear completely DEAD flat. had a tiny nail in the tread, could barley see it.
The parts mgr almost did not believe me and almost had a problem getting it replace cuz the head office couldn't believe it either.
But it happened and did not cost me a dime and was on my way to Stone Henge that night for the summer solstis, which had no cool sun rise since there is like never any sun in England!!!

I'm looking for a 2010 denim front fender on the cheap. Anyone upgrade that's looking to sell one? My son put an annoying dent in mine and it's driving me nutz. Did find anything in the search here but maybe someone hasn't thought about selling theirs till now. I know I have a pile of parts I could unload at this point.

I have the 21" for fall/winter riding and a 21" that I had cut down to 16" for spring/summer riding. I too know that you loose cool points for windshields but it makes a big difference on those long intersate trips. Comfort over cool for me.

So I have a D&D fatcat on my 2012 Lo. My right leg gets really warm at stoplights since the pipe going to the rear cylinder sticks out weird. Is this normal? Anything I can do to keep the temperature down?
