Calling all FatBoy Lo Owners

well what the diddle. the service manual is confusing me then.. because it says "Remove the six screws that hold the clutch release cover in place. Remove the clutch release cover and discard the gasket." which makes me think that it's just sitting there. Well damnit to hell that's more annoying now. Okay i guess i'll do it anyways, it won't be until November or December.
Okay it still seems simple enough.. i'm having a hard time seeing lately which is why i didn't keep reading onwards. once the cover is off I can remove the snap ring and blah blah and unscrew the etc etc and make sure the ***** don't go rolling away. replace gasket.

I just read the last 13 pages or so as I have been away.... All I read about is people wanting to trade their bikes for the 2012 with the 103. My opinion is that most of us are not drag racing these bikes and there isn't going to be huge difference unless you do work to each motor. If you want to go fast buy a crotch rocket....
I wanted to add an update to my Fatboy Lo wobble issue that I posted about a month ago. The stealer did the steering head adjustment which did not do shat, I took it back and talked to a service writer that was more informed of the wobble and they just replaced the front tire. No more wobble!

Regarding trade in, each time a new model has came out I've checked them out and spoken to someone of interest at HD. Each time I was informed that it was better just to keep the 2010 in the long run since the upgrades were relatively minor and the new models may result in a higher cost for certain replacement parts.
I'm also no longer a speed freak either and prior to purchasing the 2010, I was debating on purchasing a Nikon 400mm F/2.8 lens instead of the Lo. One of the cheaper places in the US has the lens for around $9,000.00.

Personally, I'd rather keep my customized 2010 with no payments and work toward the lens instead of purchasing a 2012 and start customizing again at a loss. It just depends on what one considers their priorities.
Of course, if I didn't have a 2010 already, I would probably jump on a 2012. Basically, I see the same thing when it comes to camera bodies--a new pro-body comes out about every 2 years though one may not necessarily out grow the camera body they already own. Some will take a hit just for bragging rights though they can't really use the camera body itself. Personally, when I out grew a camera body, then I upgraded. The lens or the glass on the other hand tends to hold its value longer since new versions are not usually realeased as frequently.

Making my Winter-Mod list. Powdercoating the tranny cover, getting a set of chrome Kuryakyn ISO pegs (that match my grips) powdercoated black because they don't make the style i like, and emailed me saying they weren't going to...talk about that in a minute. I'm getting an exhaust system I have laying around coated black and mounting that, maybe (but not likely) get my console done black) then when that's all done i'm going to sit around and fester until April when the weather starts getting nice again.
ok, the ISO pegs. Kuryakyn released a set of "Trident" Black ISO pegs, and I emailed them asking if they would make a set of regular Black Large ISO pegs. The responded they were not going to do that, but that the rubber ISO style pads will fit on the Trident pegs to give it the look. That's more money than I want to spend.. Meanwhile, I have a set of chrome ISO pegs that I can take the pads off of and have them blacked out, then just replace the pads. Much easier and cost effective.
I doubt i'll do my console because I think that would be just too much black.. the silvery console adds contrast to the tank, and matches my speedo/tach. Though I might replace the insert in it (The thing that says Ignition, Accessories, Off)..idk yet though.
As for getting the tranny cover done.. that's hidden behind the pipes anyways. So if I leave the cam cover, and rocker box covers that brushed chrome, with the blackish fins on the cylinders.. that creates a nice Brushed Chrome "V" and really makes the engine stand out inside all the black.

yeah I would definitely love to make my ride better.. Drew (Dr VTwin) always preached about the Ricor Intimidators in his FatBoy.

..i guess these things mount at the bottom of the forks, and screw in to where the retaining bolt is in the bottom, then the retaining bolt screws into them.. hmm.

To install on the Lo you remove your fork tubes. Unscrew the cap and remove the spring. You slide the Ricor Intimidator in, replace the spring, cap, add 5wt fork oil and reinstall the fork tubes.
With the Ricor Intiminators and Shotgun Shock I now have a suspension worthy of the Lo.
