I am trying to figure out how much/where to black out...

My goal is to keep the original flow of flat black, gloss black, satin, chrome... so I black pieces with hesitation.

I know I know....

When I want to be comfortable for long hauls I cheat and use this bike.

yeah bro, i knew you had a bagger for your long rides.. but i expected something else that was black on black on black.. what the hey diddle...

and about shift linkage.. my neighbor and i were talking about welding and soldering and all that cool macho stuff.. i thought about getting a steel rod or something and heating it up and making some sort of twisting/blacksmith like pattern and making myself a custom rod, then blacking it out...hmmmm tempting.

lol yea they do. I have a pretty cool bike shop (my wife says that's where I live), this bike is a Jester special edition bike from 01. I got it off of my father-in-law and it sat in his garage for 5 yrs without riding it (he's 73). I've been bringing it to life with some slight modifications, but trying to stay true to the 2001 edition at the same time. Not bad for 10 yr old paint huh?
You would not believe the sound system I installed on this bike either! It's a Kenwood system, satelite, bluetooth and CD capable and my friends say you can hear it 3 bikes back at 100mph. I was going to re-paint it the color of bbeavers bike, but I've been talked out of it, because these bikes are not too common and it is original HD paint.

Sorry to all for bringing my tour bike to this thread! I'm moving back to the LO topic now, thanks for letting me share.

Default What would you do

Sorry for a semi hi jack, but all my lo brothers are here. Here's is the situation. I bought my Lo 2 months ago. Getting custom paint and other items done. Well, 2 months later they figure out they never sent the tins out to be painted. My bike has been sitting at the dealership waiting for the paint, I've been paying on the bike. Owner told me today, as he just found out when I told him (so he says), think about what would offset the trouble and let him know. They are putting my bike back together with original tins, ordering out the special paint, and putting everything else on that i ordered. When the paint comes in they will call and swop tins, six weeks min for paint. What do you think I should do or ask for??

Already have V&H exhaust, SE Heavy Breather, PRO SE tuner, Street Slammers, New 2 up seat, sissy bar and back pad...what i dont have is the small stuff grips, mirrors, oem brake and clutch.

oh man, that SUCKS...

its awesome that the owner is willing to make up for it thou...

i would ask for one of these:
1. Full exhaust with bad *** air cleaner and PC-V = around 1500 bucks
2. shotgun shock = around 1500 bucks
3. fat daddy's around 1800 bucks or some other set of wheels
4. some carlini's with cables and new risers around 700 bucks
5. forward controls, no idea of price.
6. new seat maybe? 300 400 bucks?

what he said.. but maybe stay in the 500-700 range. I always worry about shooting too high, and taking the realism out of it.

But for sure, I would be asking for something... hell, what is your monthly payment + Insurance?? you are actually out that money.

What I would ask for, is heavy on the labor, light on the merchandise. From what I have seen they have more markup in labor... I have seen the shop manager knock 50% of labor at the drop of a hat.. never seen the parts guy budge more than 10%, and that was after heavy haggling.
