Calling all FatBoy Lo Owners

Well that just isn't true, you may have thought that, but thats not the case. I live in west Tx, also known as tornado alley and winds blow on an average of 20 to 35 mph, up to 60 mph and sand storms to which visability is reduced down to 50' at times. I can't tell ANY difference between a spoked wheel and a solid wheel riding on windy days what so ever. You would have been blown all over even if you had spoke wheels.
There is actually a thread on this somewhere here on the forum about this. But when the spokes are turning at 30+ mph they become a solid and wind does not blow through them. A softail rides better in the wind vs any bike with a fairing from side gusts.
I bring this up, not to challenge you, but to inform riders that this is a false theory.
Found it, click on envelope.

Until 6 months ago, I had 4 bikes here (just sold 2), and the FB was the only one that was an effort in strong crosswinds. Haven't had a problem since going to spokes in same conditions. Geez, the wheels are solid except for the small "bullet holes". I would risk saying stand two fatboys up in a wind tunnel sideways and hit em both with crosswind and see which blows over first and how much more it takes for the spoked one to lay down.

That's rough looking. I've used 3 sets of V & H (currrently short shots on FB) and also Samson upswept fishtails, and no pitting or corrosion. You live near a somethig caustic or something. The only time I've seen similar is when someone wrapped their pipes and the moisture was retained. Did you send pix to V & H?

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I've had far more FB owners complain of the same to me than posted no difference. I've rode in all conditions since 1975. The FB solid wheels were the first time I found myself being pushed with a crosswind and having to lean all the way into it to stay in my lane (I'm 6'2" and 220 lb.).

personally I feel like i get slammed by the wind worse than when I was riding my old sportster, and when I was riding my dad's NightTrain for a time there..both had open wheels. i mean so bad that i've literally been leaning at probably a 15-20 degree angle into the wind just to go straight.. kinda ridiculous, and not a very fun time.

Yes the pipes are the short Bassani Road Rage. They sound awesome! I was grinning from ear to ear when I started it up for the first time after installing them. I had my neighbors who own Harleys staring out their windows wondering who woke the beast.
