No biggee.

I learned a lot, including that I misread or misrember tips on this board more than I'd hoped, LOL. Didn't put enough wood under the wheels before I took off the cover to change the clutch cable, lost more oil than expected. Also realized that the cable has more slack when laying flat, it tightens up when you route it to the handle, which adds extra time and effort.

Overall, it's been humbling and rewarding doing it mostly myself. My younger brother even came down and gave me a hand yesterday. First time we'd hung out in awhile too. The service manual was invaluable, just as this board was.

If anyone needs help with a bar swap, give me a yell. I can point you in the right direction, now. Not if it was yesterday though...
... Expect to be hearing from me. I will probably need as much help as I can get. Do you have pics of yours on? Did you use the stock risers?

Haha we're all slowly becoming masters of our motorcycles..

The one thing I really took away from stripping my bike all the way down and building it back up, is that now I know that if I break down on the side of the road, or likewise see someone else broken down on the side of the road, i know some quick tips to fixing their problems..

for instance, if you snap your throttle cable, you can disconnect the throttle, flip the return cable around to be the throttle cable, then instead of rolling your wrist downwards for gas, you can roll it upwards and still get throttle... it'd be uncomfortable as hell, but at least you won't be trapped on the side of the road.

Sounds odd, my sport bike used to get 6k or so with softer tires, I've only got 2k on my Lo and the tire looks great.

Did you check out Dunlops site to see what they say?

I can help for sure...fresh in my mind...same year too, the wiring and related stuff changed from 2010. Some parts that were really vague or unknown seem like Ive always known them now. Like Sgt said...I am so much more self sufficient and capable now with my bike and others. Can't wait to tackle the shotgun shock and the fork sliders.

Anyone ever tackle a bigger bore kit? I'm feeling cocky... Lol.

I checked out Dunlops site and from the info there, I expect a lot more than the 4,000 you have gotten. My salesman has the same bike, and I vaguely remember him saying 10k-12k.

This is the rear D407 tire's verbage... http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tire...ire.asp?id=107 (front's site is http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tire...ire.asp?id=111)
  • The new D407 tire is made for 2009 FL touring models, and therear tires feature Dunlop’s advanced MT Multi-Tread technology.
  • MT Multi-Tread rear tire incorporates a tough tread compound in the center that runs cooler to provide stability, excellent traction under braking and long life, and to each side is a section of lateral-grip compound that enhances traction at higher lean angles for great grip while cornering.
  • Reinforced multi-layer tire carcass gives the tire maximum strength for long life and provides great handling at all speeds and lean angles.
  • Bold, angled lateral grooves in the tread pattern evacuate water from the contact patch on wet roads.
  • Developed and tested jointly by Dunlop and Harley-Davidson engineers in the lab and on the road.
Also, here are a few pics of the bike. The tank is not on yet, so it looks a little odd.

Oh yeah, once the bike is done, I'll use a real camera for better pics. the iPhone 4 aint bad, but it isnt as nice as what you guys usually put up.

Default Finally, my FBL comes in tomorrow

Mankota Harley tells me my bike will arrive late tomorrow. All they have to do is throw the new pipes on and I should be able to make the trip up this weekend to pick it up. Of course the weather will be shitty as far as the forecast goes. WTF Al Gore? (putz)

I dont know why I waited 6 months for my pipes either...I think most of us bought a our bikes because of the sound that could come out of em!
