bought my bike in february with 3100 miles on it for $12,300. granted it's a 2010 but i thought it was a smoking deal for a low mile bike. and that was at an indy dealer

 

Damn, I'm feeling pretty good about mine then! Bought it new in July 13 for $13,200. No ABS or security.

 

Yes I am a noob here but aside from that...

I got a '13 Lo last year. 99 FLHT Standard before that had since new- 90 FXRS before that

I have been going thru a divorce. Long story short -it's over and I just took my first full on slab trip to FL - 370 one way. I got 3K on this bike total

I am 5'9. 30 inch inseam. At 75-80 mph - I am pretty much hanging on for dear life. On the interstate only. Mind you, 60-70 off highway- I am good

I feel like I am reaching for the bars a bit- weight comes off the feet, and feet won't stay on the boards. These floorboards aren't doing it for me compared to my old standard. Mid controls are my favorite, the standard wasn't bad- and i thought the Lo felt pretty good. But the speed factor is weighing in here...

I love this bike. I wanted a Softail- never had one. Some of you mile munchers please chime in.

 

I'm about the same measurements. I've added 6 inch pull back risers to the stock bars which helped me get a little bit of bend in my elbows. Still not quite enough to let me get the lean that I want and I'm looking to probably get some carlini freeways this fall/winter. I've also added a highway bar with foot pegs placed low so that I can put my heels on the boards and toes on the pegs. One of the biggest things is probably my Corbin seat with backrest. That keeps me from getting pushed back too much. I'm looking at probably adding a bullet fairing or windshield at some point after I do bars. Any questions let me know. The 6inch pull back risers can be added without cable changes just rerouting

 

Fatbob, where'd ya get the risers? I've been thinking about going this route also.

 

IF you're real comfortable below the higher speeds, sounds like a Windvest or windshield getting that wind pressure off your chest would do the trick. Other solutions will still leave you being wind battered at those higher speeds imho.

 

I guess I will get a windshield to start and go from there. I am sure there will be a tradeoff somewhere. Maybe not. Thanks for the .02 everyone

 

I have a windshield for mine when going on long trips at interstate speeds. It does help a lot.

 

A windshield, for me, made an absolute world of difference on long trips that involved a lot of highway riding. But be warned.. your first trip with a windshield will freak you out, because the wind won't be in your ears anymore, so you're going to hear every little tick and tock and ding and dang that your engine is making, and it's going to scare you the first time you hear it.

 

Well I finally got some bags on the bike. Found some used BossBags #37 for half the cost of new. They arrived in excellent condition. I also put a Le Pera Barebones seat on this weekend. I will post so updated photos later. For now here is a shot of the bags.
