Default Need some help with 21" wheel & bearing?

Need some help here if possible? I’m trying to convert my 06 Deluxe over to a 21” wheel up front. Im going to use a 07 Night Train wheel with 1” bearings and my Deluxe has ¾ bearings & axle. I have done a search on here and found nothing to help me out, I have asked at my local HD dealer and they look at me like as if I’m try to fit a circle into a square hole ( they don’t know much). I asked a guy at a shop here in town and he said I would need to change out my whole front end, WHAT? I know I’ll never go there again. My question is can I just change out the bearings and the bearing sleeve? I have these HD part numbers 9276 (bearings) and 41349-07 (sleeve) will these work on this wheel? Is the outside diameter on all bearings the same? Also what about the bearing sleeve is the OD larger or thicker to fit the 1” opening? I know this ain’t rocket science, any help is much appreciated.

Can anyone tell me if the outside diameter of a 1" bearing sleeve is the same as a 3/4" bearing sleeve?

The bearings are easy to find on ebay;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-4-A...Q5fAccessories

As far as the spacer, I changed a rear wheel from 1" to 3/4". I took a piece of 3/4" black pipe put it in a lathe and turned it down till it would fit inside the 1" spacer...now the wheel will work with either. Local machine shop could make any spacer you need. The 3/4" bearings are wider than the 1" bearings so you will have to mock up the wheel and measure to see what size spacers you need.

Thanks for the info Tom, do you know if the outside diameter of a 1" bearing sleeve is the same as the OD of a 3/4" bearing sleeve?

I have no idea...the only thing that matters is the length...if it is not correct your bearings will go south in short order. If you had a 3/4 sleeve of the correct length you could wrap it with tape to make the OD correct...just to hold it in place while you get the axle in...once the axle is in and it is tightened up, it will be in the correct position.

The bearings I bought were .825" (21MM) The original bearings that came out of the wheel were .55 (14 MM) On one side the bearing fit flush...on the other side it stuck out the additional 7 mm. This was a rear wheel, but I suspect similar issues on front. Just FYI so you know what you are getting into.

I coverted mine from a 25mm to 3/4. the 3/4 bearing were thicker so I had to cut down the crush tube and re space it... Its time consuming but can be done....

What is the purpose of the bearing sleeve and does it fit tight in the hub?
