Looking to put some Apes and hard bags on my sons 06 heritage this winter. The bike has a Reckless Fairing and I'm not sure if straight bars will work or if I need bagger style bars. Any suggestions??

If it helps, he never rides with the fairing off. Thanks for your help.

I have a wreckless fairing with straight 14 inch apes.. I have them tilted forward just a tad, they are about 1/2 inch from the speaker covers on the fairing

So there's no clearance issues with the straight bars? At 1/2" from touching are they far enough forward? What bars are you using?

I cant remember the brand of apes they are, bought them off ebay about 7 years ago. They are not bagger apes tho. I used the factory risers and they rise straight up from them with a slight angle forward. I will try and figure out how to post pics when I get a chance.

I just spent the better part of two hours looking through this thread.... I am thoroughly impressed with just about everything I have seen on here.... everybody has done incredibly well with their cycles.

I own a Breakout, one of the newest soft tails. I want bags ( detachable of course )... preferably hard bags and looks like the one I have chosen would be the Calvary Smooth Face. I know I will have to fab some new mounting for rear lights and plate mount, but that is not a big deal.

Just wondering on the masses opinion on how it will look? Might do some photoshop pics to see....
