On the EFI system, your saying 02 and newer is better. Is the fuel injection on the 2000 still better than a carbed? I had a 92 softail custom, didn't like choke... same with atv's, prefer fuel injection to choke anyday...

here is a pic of it. I'm a college student, and don't have a ton of funds for repairs etc, so I am looking for it to last a few years, I should be done next spring. What time of year should I be looking for on the build date to not have issues? The guy said he never recieved any letters from HD regarding the cam bearing issues.

It also has bartell's pipes on it, anyone ever heard those?

Well got some new info, I asked about the pipes, and he told me if i removed the baffles it would have to be rejetted which made me go hmmm, thought this was EFI. THen he tells me it does have a choke, and thought it was fuel injected. Never heard of EFI with a choke...

Do the carbed bikes in 2000 still have the same cam bearing issues and whatnot? What's your opinion's on the carbed bikes....

Walk away, and never look back.......
Sounds like the seller is telling you whatever you want to hear, instead of the truth.

If the bike has a choke and a petcock to turn the gas on and off it's got a carbureter. Now a lot of guys will disgree, but in a lot of our opinions, a carbed bike is better. If you change pipes you can re tune the carb for about $5.00. If it's injected you will spend more like $500.00. Carbed bikes, especially of this era also usually outperform the injected bikes. Sounds like the owner is not very knowledgable about bikes, and that might explain the low milage.

The cam bearing issue was in '99 and early 2000 model Twin Cams.
