With the setup you have, they say you cant run bags on your bike and there is a kit to change it to stems, (dont know the p/n), so i really see no reason you cant just remove the mount and hit it straight to the strut. I know you didnt want this but you can also get an LED taillight that also acts as turn signals to remove them all together.

Magnum, these are the ones I used on my scoot. they are a little over a 1/2" shorter. They will make a big difference in the look from the rear. Less than 15 bucks.
