Default Ape Hanger question..

After reading through a ton of past posts and using the search function...I have a question. Considering changing out the bars again on the ride. At first I liked the Wild 1 560's I thought...but having a growing desire for some apes. How tall can one go without changing alot of stuff? I am pretty sure I can go to a stock FLSTC bar which is kinda like a mini ape right? instead of fatboy bars i put back on now....but how high are a stock FLSTC bar and can you get by with a 12" ape without major mods?

If you have an HD catalog look at the cables and it has stock sizes......and just depending on the the size of the bars you want, you can pretty much go from there. I bet anything over 10 inch you will have to redo cables and eletric. I went six and eight over stock, have some slack left so if I wanted to can put on a 3 inch riser, so go over, over so you do not limit yourself in the future.

I believe my FLSTC bars are supposed to be 10" bars. I'm also going with Apes but I like the 12.5" or 14" bars. Actually the 16" bars fit me pretty well and I like the look of the 16's but I think the 14" bars would be more comfortable on the long rides.

I was going to go with the 14's but, they did not have the fatties, f--k it 16's it is........not a problem, comfort is great, infact the little bit of upper back pain that I would get with the stock mini's is no longer there. These bars come just above my shoulders, not really reaching up or, down, straight forward. Very happy with em'
