Kind of in a holding pattern right now. I got the wheel back from my local shop today. The owner looked at me like I was nuts for trying this whole thing.

The wheel bearings are definitely going to be an issue. On the drive side its fine. On the brake side it sticks out quite a bit. Like in Tom84FXST's pic. I guess I need to start looking around to see if anyone has found a bearing that works. Otherwise I will start looking for a different wheel. Not really anxious to drop some more cash on a wheel though.

You may want to consider going to a chain. If you use a sprocket brake everything is on the drive side. You will probably have to offset the wheel a 1/2 or so to make it work...but Harley did that when they started putting the 200 tires on the bikes. Plus it looks really cool.

That does look pretty bad ***. For some reason I keep looking towards the Exile stuff. Of course cause it is twice the price of everything else.

So I see the transmission sprocket comes in different offsets, any ideas on what would be needed with the 200 conversion?

Hopefully someone will chime in that has already done this.

My Softail is an 84 so it was a chain from the factory...I offset the trans and primary 1 inch...but I did that because I was hellbent to put the wheel in the center of the frame. I had offset the wheel like Harley did I could have easy got a 230 in there...but the swingarm I used was designed for a 200 with an 1 1/2 belt.

Jeez, why don't you just trade up to an 07 or later. I understand you wanting the 200 tire it looks bad ***. That why when i was looking I had to have an 07 or later after I saw that tire. I mean the differance from what you sell your bike for vs getting a newer model mite be cheaper and way less aggravation.

Honestly, because its mine. I have done a lot to personalize it myself. Wrenching, grinding, welding and figuring things out is a major stress reliever for me.

Any of my frustration is good frustration with this.

Got the pipes and swingarm off today.

My machinist buddy has been searching for a bearing for the 07 wheel to go down to the 3/4 inch axle and not stick out the side. He said he has been unable to find one. He thinks he can take a little out of the hub and put the bearing in from my 02.

Decided for now to skip converting to chain (think I am going to put the money into a new brake for the rear instead) and I am still trying to find the pulley for a good price.
