Looking for apes for my new springer front end
I just bought a DNA springer for my FXST and I am looking to get some apes for it. I want 12" or 14" with post style risers with the hidden bolts. Does anyone know if a normal set of 1 1/4" bars will fit with the fatter post risers or do I need to do something different. I have heard from a few people that the springer takes a different bar all together and otheres arent sure.
Heres a pic of the work in progress.

Check out BR's Custom Bars, you can have them made to your specifications. I just got mine last week, they have a pullback of 5".

when i was was first in the market for handlebars, i wanted apes that were 1" and narrow in the center for a nice sleek old school look, unfortunately for me that style bar was only found made for spingers, and i ran accross a few of them. in the end i went 1 1/4" and the narrowest center width i could find and complements my scoot....

right, springers take a different bar then the custom or standard. you might want to check out ebay, they list them for springers. make sure you get a quality set. i bought a cheap set from a local bike shop and the first time i dipped my bike over and pulled it back up using the handlebars the bars cracked. come to find out my bars were no thicker than a set for a bicycle, the ones ii have now are a good 1/8th thick.

Harley springers take a different handlebar...DNA...maybe, maybe not. You need to measure before you start buying stuff. Harley springers the riser holes are 4 3/4" on center, non springers are 3 1/2 on center. Measure your riser holes and see what you have...if it is 3 1/2 it uses standard bars. You can get adapter plates and top trees to run standard bars on a Harley springer...but these cost half as much as the DNA springer. The main difference between "standard" and "springer" handlebars is the distance between the knurls.
