My 2009 XR1200 is still bone stock and my 2009 Buell 1125R is also right out of the box stock too! I have no idea if they will stay that way but it is something to think about. For an older bike or car, it seems to me to be much cooler if it is as stock as possible. Kind of like giving you a chance to take a look into the past when you see them. Today, most people seem to make performance modifications to their Harleys to counter the restrictions mandated by the EPA and once a bike has had the Harley Tax paid in full, few people really want to put it back the way it came from the factory and you can't really blame them either. The responsive increases in engine performance after a few modifications are made can be pretty addictive.

I was breaking all kinds of speed limits and still not getting the overall experience I was looking for in a HOG.

But if your happy with it 'stock', go for it. Its your bike so whatever makes you happy is fine with me.
I just think that sooner or later, your gonna mod it somehow, its almost inevitable.
thanks for your service!!! Your the pillar of this great country of ours!!

i ran stock until i could afford stage 1. it was bad. the engine was so hot that the tank could not be touched and it would burn my legs just riding. i changed it to 330 ohm resistor in place of the 02 sensor and that fixed the heat until i could get the stage 1 mod

Two 08 softails in the family and they're both stock except for slipons. Like the gas mileage and haven't felt any need to do anything to them engine wise.

My dad owns a 2005 road king... it just has 3 mods... 2 of them took a REALLY long time to get done, but the first mod he did, instantly, as soon as he hit 1k miles... was to open the exhaust, he still runs the stock exhaust, but without all the internals, and let me tell ya, he doesn't like the note, but I do! and several others like it too! it turned out to be unique sounding RK lol, anyway, the other too modes was chaning the grips and a skull air cleaner insert (both done last year) so yea, he pretty much ran a stock harley for 4 years (except for the exhaust note) and it runs great still, I drove it a couple of times and it's a great ride still

I bought my Fatboy when it was 2 years old. Bone stock.
I was going to leave it that way and I did for about 3 months.
Slip ons were needed.
I now have slip ons and and AC with a PCIII and some bags and.....
Thats kind of how it goes.
