skips69, the bike looks great, what size rise did you end up getting?
Thanks for the compliment. I went with Wild1 501's. Can't remember the rise or pull back, but all that information is on their website (along with lot's of photos with all their bars installed on lot's of different customer bikes - good for getting ideas from). I just remember that there was a concern with the 500's - the bars would hit the tank console, or come very close to it when turning? That's why I ended up going with the 501's. I'm 5' 11" and have a LePera Bare Bones solo seat that I ride with. This seat puts me back and down a lot further than the stock two-up did. I am not reaching/stretching at all though - very comfortable riding position.

The 8" rise should be very comfortable and put you setting straight up with not much lean forward at all. I find my self leaning back on the HWY with my 7" risers and I'm 6 foot.

Skips69 - What tank panel do you have? Mine is chrome but has the screw hole towards the bottom by the seat, your looks a little cleaner and I would be intrested to know where you got it.
My tank panel extension is the HD version you should be able to find at any dealership or through their fat book. It's probably the same as yours actually. I have the screw hole also, it's just that my seat (LePera Bare Bones) covers it up on my bike. I think for the money spent, it was one of the best pieces I have bought - bang for buck so to speak. Really makes a difference in tank appearance - just have to be careful as I have seen some scratch pretty easily.........

I think you will be very happy with the 8" rise, should put you right in the comfort zone!

Skip69 - Do you know where that tank panel came from?

It was hanging up in the softail section at my local dealer. I see them in just about all the dealerships I run into, in Illinois and Indiana. It is a HD part and has part# 71283-01. Retails for $39.95. States in the HD Fat Book: Fits 00'-Later Softail models (except FXSTD,FLSFSE and FXSTSSE). Your bike is older than this application is made for, but may be worth looking at and seeing if the lines are close, or if some minor trimming may be needed to make it work (and look good). You can see a good picture of it the fat book, or I'm sure your dealership may have one as well, or can at least show you a good picture of one and see if your console has similiar lines or not.

Hope I helped.

I just noticed that your bike is a 05, mine is a 1998 FXSTC and the tank panel screw hole is about 1 1/2" higher up on the tank panel. I pulled up the part you have and the screw is right on the bottom where the seat will cover the screw and provide a cleaner look. Just one more thing they improved on over the years.

Burly 1 1/4 with 8" rise, just got back from the Natchez Trace, a little over 600 miles with no problems and they look great!
