Help Installing tank badges..

When I did mine I dry fitted them to see where they looked the best. Then I pulled back the cover and exposed a small amount of the tape, but enough that I could grab while near the tank. Stuck on the corner to make sure it was where I wanted it and then pulled the rest of the tape. Probably not the best way and I am sure they are not 100% the same on both sides, but no one can see both sides at the same time so it really didn't matter to me.

I have thought about this. I think that you could use a few reference points elsewhere to hit on the emblems in the right spot. such as, running a string from a corner on your dash and letting it arc over on the side of your tank to locate a corner on say, the upper corner of one of your letters. Use the same string in length and location on the other side. Grab a couple other near by reference points and tape off a base line, start, and stop on the tank for where the emblems should fall. If you mimic these methods of measuring on both sides, you should be cool. Arcs can be used in a lot of applications for finding mid points and symmetry, kinda weird to think about it, but it works.

Twisted is exactly right...I just installed the 61-62 panhead emblems and once I found the base line and the rear line I used blue painters masking tape to mark the layout. Take your time with the measurements, i used a tailors soft measuring tape to line it up exactly. Came out perfect.

I would keep them off too, haha. I just removed mine. But if you decide to put them on use strings and masking tape. Use the Cutout in the top of the tank as a reference point to line the string up. That way you know they are both symetrical. once you have that string perfect line the emblem up with the strings and stick them on. Most importantly take your time, don't rush. Im sure they will come out great. Good Luck
