Nothing sucks the style out of a bike like saddle bags and a windshield, but I do understand the need. I bungee tie a waterproof Seal bag to the rear seat for trips. It works fine.
I really like my bags from Leatherpros. My wife has bags from Leatherworks but I prefer the mounting system that mine uses. For longer trips I also have the medium sized Fastback bag from Saddlemen that goes on the back of the seat.
