Soft ties , ratchet straps , wheel chock , and a extra person . Ratchet from the lower trees NOT the handlebars and pull over and check it!

Most dealers will deliver it to your door if they have any decency. I mean you just dumped a truck load of cash on their door step. Although I guess it would depend on how far you live from the dealer.I've bought 4 new bikes through the years at 4 different dealers and they've all offered to deliver it free. I always just picked them up and rode home, cept for one. Ask if they will deliver it for you...

what are soft ties, and just one strap across the tripple trees, or one from each side? what about the back, again, use one or two? just place across the back rest? i don't have a wheel chock, and is a must have?

Look at this.

Or these if you already have regular straps.

Just simply loop them around your bars at the lowest point, one on each side.

I have a post with pics of when I hauled my FB to CO from AZ in the back of a 1/2 ton Chevy last July. I had no issues. Used the HD soft ties with my tie downs and made a wheel chock out of some plywood 2X4s which worked great. The dealer helped me load it for free here.
