well its supposed to be spittin snow most of the day, and a high of like 35 so it may be a game time decision, i probably won't be hauling with a chock, i know its reccommended to get one, but am i taking too much of a risk, and what exactly does the chock do?

 

The chock stabilizes the front end and most good ones will let the bike stand on its own so you can actually tie it down yourself (A la Condor). If you are only going an hour, you are probably OK (I had a friend take my old VStar star and his Ultra to FL and back on a landscape trailer with no chocks), but you will definitely need help and will need at least 4 straps, or 3 if one is long and can bridge across the back. Yes, rachet are the best. The cheap hardware store "slide" straps suck. Also, as someone above mentioned, pull over after the first few miles to double check everything. Are you loading it into/onto a trailer or a p-up? Also, be careful not to over tighten the front end and pop the fork seals.

 

i think my buddy said his trailer is a pop-up, is that another issue, lol

 

like camping pop up trailer. might be a little tough getting the bike up the two steps.

 

If you dont have a wheel chock make one. Screw a couple of pieces of 4x4 down to the trailer to stop the front wheel from turning and then I like to use ratchet type tie downs from the fram just below the gastank (where the crash bar would mount) down to the trailer. Dont really have to tie off the back if your not going to be bouncing around and only going a short distance 100 mile or less
